Branch Manager

Position Summary

Is the sales and management leader for the consumer and small business financial services portfolio. Has responsibility for the planning, staffing, supervision, operations, service delivery, and development of the office. Ensures that regulatory, audit and Bank operating principles and procedures are followed.  Initiates, reviews and approves small business and consumer loans within pre-approved limits. 

General Qualifications

Required Education/Knowledge:

  • A general understanding of lending procedures, branch operations and general banking regulations
  • An in-depth knowledge of fair lending legislation
  • Must be well-versed in the products and services of the Bank and have relevant bank security, computer and teller operations knowledge.

Preferred Education/Knowledge:

  • Four year college degree
  • Additional attendance at an accredited banking school
  • Courses through AIB
  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques

Required Experience:

  • Well-developed customer and employee relations experience is important
  • Previous experience in management
  • Sales experience is essential in an environment where relationships are important

Preferred Experience: 

  • A minimum of two years branch banking experience including branch operations, customer support and some lending experience
  • Well-developed customer and employee relations experience is important

Required Skills: 

  • Management, human relations and communications skills must be well-developed to maximize relationships with customers and the community 
  • Proficiency on Microsoft Word and Excel programs is essential 
  • Must be thorough and have the ability to make quick decisions 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:  Vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and speech are required.   A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.  Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to meet the essential functions of the position.

Mental Demands:  Learning, thinking, listening and concentration are required.  Must have the ability to interact with people and focus on details and follow-up on time sensitive material.  The ability to work under stressful conditions is essential.

Essential Functions

  • Identifies, develops, services, and maintains retail and small business financial services for assigned portfolio of customers.
  • Receives and analyzes information for consumer and small business installment loans and revolving credit services.
  • Conducts comprehensive reviews and makes recommendations for all assigned loan relationships; gathers and processes applications and other information and approves or denies loan or deposit services.
  • Monitors and is responsible for all facets of the lending relationship.  Follows up on delinquent accounts, the perfection of liens and other key documentation for lending or deposit services.
  • Serves as senior sales manager for branch office.  Coordinates sales efforts with CSR staff.
  • Supervises the CSR staff and Teller Supervisor.  Is responsible for staffing, operations, service delivery, and the development of the branch office.
  • Aids in the development and control of the office budget.
  • Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures.  Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws including the Bank Secrecy Act.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stays abreast of trends in the banking industry to be sure the branch is up-to-date in its processes and procedures.
